"The Movies Return: Filmmaking in New Jersey, Past and
Present" will have its television premiere on NJN, The New
Jersey Channel, on Friday, September 20th at 11:00 pm. It will be
rebroadcast on Saturday, September 28th at 4:00 pm.
This 40 minute documentary examines New Jersey's motion picture
heritage, from the turn-of-the-century to the current day. Presented
by Friends of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television
Commission, the film is designed to serve as an essential historical
document and to promote increased production work in New Jersey.
Narrated by Oscar-winning actress and Commission Chairman Celeste
Holm, The Movies Return features clips from dozens of films
shot in the state throughout the years, and footage of many of New
Jersey's most popular movie locations. In addition, it contains many
rare photos and stills from the silent era.
The Movies Return was directed by three-time Emmy winner
Michael Finan and Executive Produced by Joseph Friedman, Executive
Director of the Motion Picture and Television Commission. It was
written by Steven Gorelick, the Commission's Associate Director.
