Michael W. Proscia of North Bergen has been appointed by Governor James E.
McGreevy to become Chairman of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television
Commission.
Proscia, a veteran of the film and television industry, has been affiliated
with the International Alliance Of Theatrical Stage Employes for over 45
years. He previously served as General Secretary-Treasurer of the
International, as well as Chairman of the East Coast Council and President
and Business Representative for Local 52. He is currently Assistant to the
President of the I.A.T.S.E.
A member of the Motion Picture and Television Commission since 1980,
Proscia succeeds Gloria Monty (who served as Chairman since 1997), actress
Celeste Holm, screenwriter and author JP Miller, and playwright Sidney
Kingsley.
The Commission, which has been in operation since 1978, promotes motion
picture and television production throughout New Jersey.
Last year, the agency attracted a record 692 projects to the state,
generating $63 million for the local economy.
